Privacy policy

Effective from 1 November 2026. Replaces the version of 5 November 2025.

This policy explains what data we collect when you use the TIC — The Italian Connection app and the ticappofficial.com website, why we use it, who we share it with and what your rights are. We have written it as simply as we can: if anything is unclear, write to us.

1. Who we are

The data controller is MEGI Tech FZC LLC, the company that owns TIC — The Italian Connection: licence no. 4425342.01, Business Centre, Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, write to info@ticappofficial.com.

2. What this policy covers

The TIC app for iPhone and Android and the ticappofficial.com website, including its pages in Italian.

When you contact a professional or a business on WhatsApp, by phone, by email or on social media, the conversation takes place outside TIC, under the rules of those services: TIC does not see it.

3. What data we collect

In the app:

  • your account data, that is your name, email address and phone number, which you need to sign up;
  • the profile details you choose to add, such as a photo and a description;
  • for partners, the business details published on their profile: name, category, description, photos, contacts, links, events and offers; for the membership, the details needed for the contract and the invoice, which we prepare ourselves;
  • reviews and replies: the rating and the text you write, the date and the name you are registered with;
  • how you use the app: the screens you open, your searches, your preferences, visits to profiles and taps on professionals' contact details;
  • device data: model, operating system, app version and, if you accept notifications, the identifier needed to send them to you;
  • the messages you send us, for example support requests.

On the website:

  • what you enter in the form to become a partner: email address, name, whether you are a professional or a business, category, whether you already hold a UAE licence, the description of your business, your website and Instagram if you leave them, your WhatsApp number if you leave it, whether you ask for a website quote, and the package or banner you choose;
  • anonymous visit statistics, which use no cookies and do not identify you;
  • two technical settings saved in your browser, so that the cookie notice and the loading screen are not shown to you again (details in the cookie policy).

We do not ask for sensitive data, such as data about your health, religion or political opinions. Please do not include it in your profile, descriptions or reviews.

4. Why we use it and on what basis

  • Creating and managing your account, showing you professionals and letting you contact them: this is the service you ask for when you sign up (performance of a contract).
  • Publishing partner profiles, reviews and replies: performance of a contract.
  • Showing each partner how many people opened their profile and tapped their contact details, as numbers only: our legitimate interest in giving partners the service they pay for. Partners do not know who you are.
  • Sending you notifications, from us and from partners, about events, offers and news: your consent, which you give when your phone asks for it and can withdraw at any time.
  • Replying to people who fill in the partner form and sending them the documentation: their request (pre-contractual steps).
  • Understanding how the app is used and improving it, keeping the service secure and preventing abuse: our legitimate interest.
  • Complying with the law, for example tax obligations on partner memberships: legal obligation.

We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

5. What others can see

  • App users can see partner profiles, with the contact details partners choose to publish.
  • Reviews are visible to all app users, with the name the author is registered with. The partner can reply, if they have the dashboard, but cannot delete them. TIC can remove a false or offensive review.
  • Partners only see how many visits and taps they receive: never the name or contact details of the people behind them.
  • Partner notifications reach people who downloaded TIC and accepted notifications, without the partner receiving your data.

6. Who we share it with

Only with the providers we need to run TIC, who process the data on our behalf and following our instructions:

  • the provider that hosts the app's database, in the European Union, where account, profile and review data are stored;
  • Apple and Google, which distribute the app and deliver notifications to phones;
  • Vercel, which hosts the website and counts visits anonymously;
  • Resend, which sends the emails from the partner form;
  • Google Workspace, which handles the ticappofficial.com mailboxes and the spreadsheet where we keep partner form requests.

The app is developed and maintained directly by MEGI Tech.

We may disclose data to the authorities when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of users.

7. Where the data is

The app's database is in the European Union. MEGI Tech is based in the United Arab Emirates, and some of the providers we use, for example those for the website and email, may store data outside the European Union, for example in the United States. For people living in the European Union, these transfers take place with the safeguards required by the GDPR.

8. How long we keep it

  • Account data, for as long as the account is active.
  • After the account is deleted, for no more than 12 months, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
  • Reviews stay published, with the author's name, even after the account is deleted. If you want one of your reviews removed, you can ask us as explained in section 10.
  • Partner form data, if you do not become a partner, for 24 months.
  • Website visit statistics are anonymous and contain no personal data.

9. Notifications

Notifications only arrive if you accept them when your phone asks. You can turn them off at any time in the app settings or in your phone settings.

10. Your rights

At any time you can ask us to:

  • tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct or update it;
  • delete it;
  • restrict its use, or object to a use based on our legitimate interest;
  • give it to you in a readable format, to take it elsewhere;
  • withdraw a consent you gave us, without affecting what happened before.

Write to info@ticappofficial.com: we reply within 30 days. If you think we have not respected your rights, you can contact the data protection authority of the country where you live: in Italy it is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

11. Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app, from the Profile screen with the delete account button, or by writing to info@ticappofficial.com with the subject “Account deletion”, from the email address you registered with. After deletion we only keep data as explained in section 8.

12. Security

We protect data with appropriate technical and organisational measures. No system is one hundred per cent secure, though: if something happens that puts your data at risk, we will tell you as the law requires.

13. Minors

TIC is meant for people aged 18 and over. If we find out we hold data about a minor, we delete it.

14. Cookies

The website only uses the cookies and technical data it needs to work, plus anonymous visit statistics with no cookies. The details are in the cookie policy.

15. Changes

If we change this policy we update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will also tell you in the app.

16. Language

This policy is written in Italian and in English.
